INVOCATION:
Reverend Dan White of North Columbia Church conducted the invocation.

BOARD COMMENTS:
Board members congratulated students and parents and recapped many end of year events that were attended the past two weeks, HHS-Grease musical, honors nights, and the CCBOE retirement reception.

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION:
There was no public participation.

BOARD ITEMS:
The Board ruled to uphold the Disciplinary Hearing Appeal Case No. 06-07-373.

NEXT MEETING:
The next scheduled Board meeting will be a Study Session on May 22 at the Board of Education in Evans at 5:30pm.

Present were Superintendent Thomas A. Price, Chairman Regina Buccafusco, Vice-Chair Mildred Blackburn, Wayne Bridges, Mike Sleeper, and Roxanne Whitaker.

BOARD APPROVALS
Consent Items. 
The Board gave final approval of items: minutes of 3/27/07 and 4/10/07- March Financials, employee travel, fundraisers, camp, and requests to state for variances of the Georgia High School Graduation requirement.
Budget Amendments/Transfers. The Board gave final approval to the following General Fund or Special Revenue Amendments/Transfers: Budget Amendment No. 52 - Budget additional funds donated by the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce/Industry Partnership ($15,000); Budget Amendment No. 53 - Budget Title IID funds ($73); ;Budget Amendment No. 54 -Budget funds awarded to the 5 Title I Distinguished Schools ($2,625); Budget Transfer No. 8 - Transfer funds for Lewiston Elementary in the K-8 reading & math grant;  Budget Transfer No. 9 - Transfer funds to reimburse Lakeside High for athletic charter buses.
BOE Policies. 
The Board gave final approval to: Policy JN - Awards and Scholarships; and Policy BE - School Board Records.

Bid Results-copy paper.
The Board gave final approval of bid results and awarded contract for multi-purpose copy paper to Ricoh Corporation ($166,566). 
Bid Results-fire alarms. The Board gave final approval of bid results and awarded the contract to the two lowest bidders - Southeastern Systems Technologies ($122,250) and TriTec ($125,261).

BUILDING PROGRAM
Project Update.   Mr. Price updated the Board on the various building projects going on within the county: painting at GMS & GHS;  Twelve classroom additions at Lewiston and River Ridge; Cedar Ridge Elementary in Grovetown (view progress);  the New Middle School #3 on Blackstone Camp Road (view progress); and the New High School #1 on Chamblin Road to be completed July 2010.

SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT
Change of Early Release dates for Fall 2007.  Mr. Price notified the Board that due to ITBS and GHSGT testing dates, the early release for parent conferences has to be changed from 9/20/07 to 9/13/07.

PERSONNEL RECOMMENDATIONS
On the recommendations of Superintendent Price, the personnel recommendations were approved as presented. 
 

Robbie Jarrell was named Assistant Superintendent of Student Support, creating a vacancy for principal at Riverside Elementary.

Cathy Barber, lead teacher, was named assistant principal at Evans High and will replace Ja'net Bishop.
