were Superintendent Charles R. Nagle, Chairman Regina Buccafusco,
Vice-Chair Roxanne Whitaker, Mildred Blackburn, Wayne Bridges, and

Church
conducted the

BOARD
COMMENTS |
|
Board
members expressed congratulations to each other for the July primary
and will look forward to working together for another term.
Mr. Sleeper apologized to Board members and staff for not attending
tax hearing and causing an additional Board
meeting. |

PUBLIC
PARTICIPATION |
|
Julie
Miller of Family Connections, along with Ryan Clark's mother,
presented information about the Ryan Clark Scholarship and Community
Service Award to be awarded to any Columbia or
Richmond
County high
school student at an award ceremony in May. Information will
be shared with school guidance counselors in August. A fund has been
established at Security Federal Bank in Evans (706-650-6788) to
accept donations toward this award in honor of Lakeside
graduate, Ryan Clark. |

APPROVALS |
Consent
Items. The
Board gave final approval of consent items: minutes of 6/10/08
(called meeting and regular session), 6/24/08-study session,
6/30/08-tax digest hearing, May financials, employee travel,
fundraisers, and partnerships. The Board gave final approvals
for: request for loan from Board for athletic uniforms and
equipment for Stallings Island Middle, contract extension with
Community Service Board of East Central Georgia, Memorandum of
Understanding with Family Connections for 21st Century Grant, and Memorandum of
Understanding with Family Connections for CSRA Foundation Grant.
Board
Policies. The
Board gave final approval to the following policies: Policy
CGPH-Vacations-Twelve Month District and Support Personnel; Policy
GBRIG-Vacations-Twelve Month District and Support Personnel; and
Policy JBC (2) - Acceptance of Transfer Credit and/or Grades,

Bid
Results. The
Board approved the bid results and contract awards for School
Nutrition Program (SNP) for the following : SNP food products were
awarded to US Food Service ($2,045,871); SNP produce was awarded to
Leo's Produce ($10,272); SNP paper products were awarded to
Southeastern Paper Group ($268,071); SNP bread was awarded to Derst
Baking Company ($178,890); and SNP Beverages were awarded to
Coca-Cola ($220,100).

approval for Change Order No. 6 and 7 - Grovetown
