Present were Superintendent Charles R. Nagle,
Chairman Regina Buccafusco, Mildred Blackburn, Wayne Bridges,
and Mike Sleeper. Ms. Buccafusco began the meeting with
a moment of silent reflection. |

Board members
expressed appreciation to Mr. Nagle for his support this year.
Several Board members visited summer school at Evans High and
commended Mr. Segraves and Mr. Bunn on the fine job they have done
with registration and first week.

APPROVALS |
Consent Items. The Board gave final
approval of consent items: minutes of 5/27/08 - budget and study
sessions; employee travel, fundraisers, partnerships, camps, and
Policy KHE-gifts. The Board gave final approval for requests
to state Board of Education for variances and waiver of the Georgia
High School graduation requirements.
Budget Amendments/Transfers. The Board
gave final approval to the following Budget Amendments and/or
Transfers: Special Revenue Budget Transfer No. 15 - To transfer
funds within the drug free grant to be used for travel and field
trips; General Fund Budget Transfer No. 20 - To transfer funds
within special services department to cover instructional travel and
field trips; and General Fund Budget Amendment No. 43 - To
budget funds for the Georgia Virtual School Program.
FY09 Budget. The Board gave final approval
for the FY09 budget. Mr. Nagle recommended that the Board approve
the budget as presented, including the recommendation to increase
school lunches by a quarter ($0.25) (view
budget). |

PROGRAM |
Project Update. Mr. Nagle updated the
Board on the one building project going on within the county:
Grovetown High School on Chamblin Road (view progress). The Board gave final
approval for Change Order No. 3 - Stallings Island Middle
School (credit $20,000 back to general
fund). |
| SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT/ANNOUNCEMENTS |
| Summer
School Enrollment. Mr. Nagle provided a report of summer
school enrollment. There are 731 high school students and 224
middle school students enrolled in summer school with a total of 955
seats. This is a decrease of 11 seats and an increase of 10
more students from last year's summer school enrollment.
Important Dates. Mr. Nagle reminded the Board of a few
dates:
- Proposed Dates for Tax Digest Hearings: June 30, 7:30am at
CCBOE, July 8, 7:30am at CCBOE
- Hearings and Set Mill Rate: July 8, 5:30pm at CCBOE
- Summer School Graduation: July 14, 5:00pm at Evans High School
- New Teacher Induction - July 22-24 - Savannah Rapids, Luncheon
on July 22, 11:30am at Savannah
