Columbia County Board of Education

Reviews Grovetown/Harlem Elementary Zones

Public Meetings Held for Parent Input

The proposed rezoning plan for the new elementary school in Grovetown was approved by the Columbia County Board of Education to present to the public for input at two public meetings:

The new elementary school in Grovetown will have a total capacity of 51 classrooms funded 100% by SPLOST and local funds. The last two new elementary schools constructed in Columbia County, Lewiston and River Ridge, were built with state funds for only 39 classrooms based on the existing student enrollment.  With the increase in student enrollment over the projections, a 12-classroom addition is scheduled to begin next month at both Lewiston and River Ridge.

The following schools zones will be reviewed for public input as possible options for rezoning to the new elementary school scheduled to open fall 2007: (see map)

Grovetown Elementary;  Euchee Creek Elementary; North Harlem Elementary (Wrightsboro Road to East White Oak); Lewiston Elementary (Louisville Road to Baker Place, Baker Place to Chamblin Road); and Brookwood Elementary (Old Wheeler Road and area west).
