Small Equipment Fire Contained at Greenbrier High School

Students Evacuated as Precautionary Measure

This news release is to notify parents who have students attending Greenbrier High that a small fire erupted around 2:15pm inside a dryer in the gym locker area of the school. Staff turned off power to the unit and extinguished the fire. As a precautionary measure, students were evacuated until the fire department arrived on the scene. Since the fire was extinguished and the building deemed safe, students were allowed to return to class to prepare for regular dismissal. Parents can be assured that there were no injuries to students or staff and that an investigation will be conducted as to the cause of the fire.
