Disciplinary Actions for Bomb Threats are Toughened

Due to the disruptions that have occurred with bomb threats at some of our area public schools, parents and students in Columbia County are reminded to review the code of conduct for terroristic threats and that disciplinary actions will be toughened and enforced starting this week.  Bomb threats are against the law and any student that makes such a threat will be reported to the proper law enforcement agency with the recommendation of full prosecution.  “We need to help protect our students instructional time so starting today, any student making a bomb threat will be immediately suspended from school, with the recommendation for expulsion from the Columbia County School System,” said Tommy Price, Superintendent of Schools.

Students are encouraged to use the school safety hotline 706-541-3600 to anonymously report any information about terroristic threats, drugs, alcohol, or bullying. Since the start of the school year, Columbia County Schools have experienced four bomb threats at Greenbrier High, Greenbrier Middle, and Riverside Middle.
