SCHOLARSHIPS

 

Janice M. Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund

            I.         Qualification/Eligibility 

a.     US Citizen or permanent resident of US

b.     GPA 2.5/equivalent or higher (out of a 4.0 scale)

c.     High School Senior who will matriculate full-time at a US accredited four-year college or university within the fifty states or District of Columbia starting at the beginning of the fall semester or quarter of 2010.

d.     Have demonstrated leadership abilities through participating in community services or other extracurricular activities.

As an eligibility guideline, the chairman wishes to emphasize that the selection process of these scholarships is based primarily on a “need” basis.  The process involves four means of evaluation.  They are (1) need, (2) academics, (3) community services, and (4) writing skill.  These four categories are allocated points from a total of 100.  The evaluators can give a maximum of 40 points for need, 25 points for community services, 25 points for academics, and 10 points for writing skills to any particular application during the screening process.

Mail the complete application packet so that it is received or postmarked on or before the deadline date of March 31, 2010.

 

AEMP Foundation

Students interested in the heavy equipment diesel technician industry, and a GPA of at least 2.0.

The AEMP Foundation awards numerous scholarships valued at $500 per semester for up to four semesters. 

To Qualify:

·          Have an interest in a career as a heavy equipment technician

·          Maintain a 2.0 GPA throughout high school

·          Plan to attend a college or vo-tech program that offers a diesel technology program

·          Provide all required supplemental information to the Foundation by submission deadline

DIXIE SOFTBALL, INC.

Applicant must be a senior in high school and must have participated in a DIXIE SOFTBALL program for at least two (2) seasons. Applicant’s ability as an athlete will not be a factor in awarding scholarships. Financial need will be a factor in determining award recipients.

Columbia County Merchants Association Scholarship Fund Program

Criteria for Selection-

1.     The applicant has satisfactory academic achievement.  This is to be determined by reviewing transcripts and GPA of the applicant.

2.     Show promise of continued academic achievement as evidenced by SAT/ACT scores.

3.     The essay of the applicant will be reviewed for clarity, sincerity, and interest indicated in attending college.

4.     That references reviewed and evaluated indicate scholarship, diligence, and social skills.

5.     That the applicant is accepted for enrollment in an accredited college or university in the State of Georgia. 

·         Students should be a graduate of one of the public high schools in Columbia County.

·         Be a legal resident of Columbia County for a minimum of 12 consecutive months immediately preceding graduation.

The Alpha Theta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma

Offering a grant of $1500 to a young woman who is a 2010 graduating senior planning to enter college in preparation for the teaching profession.

Fort Gordon Service Club Scholarship

Eligibility- Any graduating senior in good standing at an accredited high school in the CSRA and either a military dependent of an active duty, retired, reserve or National Guard service member with a valid ID card or the dependent of a current member of the Fort Gordon Service club.

Judging Criteria- Eligible applicants will be evaluated on academic standing or trade aptitude, citizenship, character, participation in school and community activities, and the stated desire and sincerity for further education.

•Be of Hispanic heritage
•Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 (not expired)
•Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
•Have plans to enroll FULL-TIME in a degree seeking program at a two or four year U.S. accredited institution in the U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands or Guam during the 2010-2011 academic year
•Must apply for federal financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
•Be pursuing first undergraduate or graduate degree

PCEA College Scholarship

Professional Construction Estimators Association of America

Your local CSRA Chapter awards annually one $1,000 scholarship to a college-bound student according to the criteria stated on the National Scholarship form.  In turn, National PCEA awards five $1,000 scholarships chosen from the local chapter recipients.

 Requirements:

1.     Applicant is responsible for ensuring that all items listed below are submitted to the National PCEA Scholarship Committee

                       
a.     Completed application form

b.     One evaluation form completed by your high school Guidance Counselor or College Faculty Advisor.  High School Principal evaluation acceptable where counselor information not available.

c.     One evaluation form completed by an adult not related to the applicant.

d.     Official Transcript of high school grades and latest SAT scores.

2.     Finalists may be interviewed by the Scholarship Committee.

                                                                                                           2010 Jabez Sanford Hardin Scholarship


The scholarship would be provided annually to deserving students of the public high schools of Columbia County. The scholarship recipient could renew the scholarship each year by maintaining a college grade point average of at least 3.0 over the academic year and by maintaining fulltime status in college (12 or more hours).

Criteria:

1. That a financial need exists for the student to attend college.
2. That the applicant has satisfactory academic achievement.
3. Essay
4. References
5. Accepted to accredited college or university in Georgia.

Jenny Clark Memorial Scholarship

The Jenny Clark Memorial Scholarship was established to celebrate the life of Jenny Clark, a 1998 graduate of Lakeside High School and Varsity soccer team player.  Scholarships are presented in May of each year to scholar athletes from high schools in the CSRA who not only maintain high grades, but who demonstrate what we feel are some of Jenny’s best qualities, such as team leadership, positive attitude, willingness to help and friendly nature.
