Columbia County Summer School, 2008

 High School Brief

   DATES:              Pre-Registration:                                                               April 28 – May 9

                                Current Seniors                                             April 28 ONLY

(The first day would be a priority registration for current seniors who plan to graduate after summer school and current juniors and sophomores who plan to graduate in 2009)

                                Final Registration:                                            May 29, 2008 @ Evans High School

                                                Columbia County Students                            8:00am – 10:00am (First-Come, First-Served)

                                                (Middle & High School)

                                                Out-of-County Students                  10:00am – 12:00 noon (First-Come, First-Served)

                                There are no Late Registration or Drop-Add Periods

                                Summer School Calendar:                                            June 2 – July 14 (In session)

                                                                                                                               Midterm:  June 20

                                                                                                                                Holiday: July 4

                                                                                                                               Final Exams, EOCTs:  July 14

                                                                                                                               Report Cards: 8:00am – 10:00am, July 15 *

                                                                                                                               Graduation: July 14 @ 5:00 pm (EHS Auditorium)

(* Reports Cards will be mailed if student provides a self-addressed stamped envelope.  Report Cards that are not picked up or

mailed will be sent to the student’s home school and may be picked up in the home school’s guidance office during pre-planning.)

 

   T                          During Pre-Registration, make checks/money order payable to home school

                                During Final Registration, make checks/money order payable to Evans High School          

High School Courses – (A copy of Transcript or Report Card is required at Final Registration to verify needed     coursework.)

Columbia County students currently enrolled:

                                                Remediation (courses previously taken and not passed) -    $ 80.00 per ˝ Carnegie Unit class

                                                Enrichment (course not previously taken)-                                             $ 260.00 per ˝ Carnegie Unit class

                                                Out-of-County & Private school students -                      $ 285.00 per ˝ Carnegie Unit class

                                (Students may not retake course in which a passing grade and Carnegie credit have been earned.)

                                (Only 3 course segments for a total of 1 ˝ Carnegie units may be taken in summer school.)

There will be a $30.00 service charge for returned checks.  NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED

AFTER STUDENT HAS ATTENDED ANY CLASSES OR AFTER THE JUNE 4th.

 

   IDENTIFICATION:          For identification purposes and media center usage, students have their home school student ID card with them at all times.

 

   TRAB   Bus Transportation will only be provided from Appling, Evans, Grovetown, and Harlem.  The CCBOE Transportation Department will provide a schedule of times and pick-up/drop-off locations.  Students are not permitted to remain on campus at the conclusion of their scheduled classes.  Parents/Guardians must make prior arrangements to have their       child picked up at the conclusion of classes if bus transportation is not available at that specific time.

   PARKING PERMITS:       Students who wish to drive their own vehicle to school must have a summer school parking permit.  The cost is $10.00.     The fee is non-refundable.  Student must complete the CCBOE Vehicle Registration Form.  A COPY of the student’s      driver’s license, proof of insurance, and vehicle tag registration must be attached to the CCBOE registration form.

 

   DRESSSummer School DOES have a dress code that is enforced.  Details are in the Handbook.

 

   ATTE   Due to Georgia State Guidelines regarding seat time, a MAXIMUM of five (5) days of absence per class is allowed;   

   POLI     Two (2) with a parental excuse; three (3) with a medical /judicial excuse.  NO EXCEPTIONS.  Prior approvals are not granted; exams are not given early.  A student will be withdrawn with no refund on the 6th day of absence.  Emergencies do arise.  Plan accordingly.

 

   SCHE           The offering of courses is strictly dependent upon demand and availability of certified teachers.  Courses that do not
 meet the minimum enrollment will be cancelled and refunds mailed to the address on the registration form.  There is no Drop-Add period.  Students who drop a course on June 2nd and June 3rd will be charged a $30.00 service charge.  After June 4th , no refunds will be issuedClasses are filled in the order of receipt of registration form and payment.  Requests cannot be guaranteed.  Classes are limited to a MAXIMUM of 18 students per class.  (Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis and will not be overloaded.)

 

   BELL    SCHEDULE:           1st period                                                                               7:30 a.m. - 9:40 a.m.
   Break                                                                                     9:40 a.m. - 9:55 a.m.

                                                  2nd period                                                                             9:55 a.m. - 12:05 p.m.

                                                  Lunch                                                                                    12:05 p.m. - 12:30 p.m.

                                                  3rd period                                                                              12:35 a.m. - 2:45 p.m.

 

   CAFE    TERIA/LUNCH SERVICES WILL NOT BE PROVIDED.  STUDENTS MAY BRING A SACK LUNCH OR MONEY FOR THE VENDING MACHINES.

   ALL STUDENTS MUST LEAVE CAMPUS AFTER THE CONCLUSION OF THEIR SCHEDULED DAY. 

   NO STUDENTS ARE TO BE ON CAMPUS AFTER 3:00 PM.  PLEASE MAKE SURE APPROPRIATE TRANSPORTATION IS ARRANGED.
