Information

Crossroads Academy opened in January 1995 to serve those Columbia County students who have been removed from the regular school setting and those students returning from the juvenile or criminal justice system.

Serving grades 6 - 12, Crossroads is located at
112 Ford Avenue in Grovetown. All students are enrolled in six fifty-five minute classes per day in addition to a thirty minute lunch period.

One school bus serves all Crossroads Academy students who do not have another means of transportation. The local Board of Education has designated four pick-up and drop-off points in Columbia County for this purpose. Lunch is provided for the students and staff by a neighboring school. Meals are ordered on a daily basis and are delivered to us by the Crossroads bus driver.

Class size does not exceed fifteen, and course offerings include all core curricula subjects in addition to a small cross-section of electives as well as
Virtual High School classes.

Teachers are encouraged to employ active instructional techniques and alternative forms of assessment in addition to traditional forms of testing. The entire Crossroads staff is at this school by choice and work as a team to best meet the academic, emotional, and social needs of the students.

Our program employs seven full time teachers, including an interrelated special education instructor, a full time counselor, secretary, technology resource specialist, administrator, and security officer that we share with our neighboring school. In addition, we employ a part time family facilitator who works closely with families, often outside the school setting, to help resolve conflicts and challenges in the home environment. She conducts several family parent workshops and student-focused sessions throughout the year to help promote success for our student population.

Our Community Collaborative, representing a cross-section of our community, works closely with us to help carry out the mission of our program.
Crossroads Academy is part of a statewide program initially funded by lottery money.
